What We Do
The Nature Conservation Trust (NCT) of NSW is a unique non-profit organisation committed to private land and wildlife conservation. We are working with rural land owners and a variety of partners across NSW to transform the way that private land is valued and protected.
By buying and selling rural real estate that is rich in biodiversity, the NCT is creating a market for conservation land. We are encouraging existing rural property owners to enhance their land management to safeguard some of Australia’s most endangered animals and plants, and we are working with businesses to explore new opportunities for conservation innovation.
Wildlife conservation is not the preserve of national parks, nor wealthy companies or government departments. Substantial and lasting conservation gains can – indeed are – being made by individuals within paddocks on properties large and small. These are far-sighted land managers who, like us, appreciate that a healthy natural environment means a more productive landscape, too.
In creating a vibrant network of private nature reserves – a network that now covers some 22,000 magnificent hectares – the NCT is providing sanctuary for some of our country’s most precious landscapes and wildlife for all time.
