The Nature Conservation Trust’s partnerships with rural land owners in the Upper Murray, through conservation land covenants, have protected 282 hectares of key wildlife habitat and boosted climate change corridors in the region.
These conservation land covenant partnerships are part of the Great Eastern Ranges Slopes to Summit project and have been funded by the NSW Environmental Trust.
The high conservation value land, which contributes greatly to connectivity in the ranges, supports 14 threatened species, including the eastern pygymy possum, spotted-tail quoll and yellow-bellied glider.
What is a conservation land covenant?
NCT conservation agreements, or land covenants, are just one of many products that the NCT offers private land owners with an interest in biodiversity conservation. If you purchase a piece of rural real estate from the NCT, it will come with a conservation agreement (covenant) attached to the land. If you were to buy a rural property through another vendor, the NCT can help you protect the biodiversity of your land by adding a conservation land covenant to the property.
Once you have entered into a conservation agreement with the NCT we provide ongoing support to private land owners who seek to conserve the natural value of their rural land.
