Murray CMA

The Murray Catchment Management Authority have partnered with the Nature Conservation Trust to focus on maintaining and improving the conservation assets found on Hartwood Station.

45 kilometres of fencing construction and 15 kilometres of stock water piping is being installed to protect and enhance native vegetation along both sides of the Billabong Creek and along the banks of the Yanco Creek which border the property. The fencing will create wildlife corridors along the riparian land to support the regeneration of ecologically endangered communities and allow for better grazing management of the native pastures.

These fencing and water works will help us move towards our desired outcome of achieving both conservation outcomes and sustainable agriculture production.

The Murray CMA have also offered financial assistance to protect sites of Indigenous culture and heritage across the Murray catchment. Archeologists, local Indigenous representatives and Aboriginal advisory group members are currently undertaking a cultural survey and audit of the property's Indigenous sites. Results from the survey will enable a cultural management plan to be developed for the property and provide other local landholders access to information about the Indigenous heritage of the area.

In addition, the Murray CMA are also working closely with the Nature Conservation Trust as a partner of the Slopes to Summit pilot program.
