In November, the NCT received a donation of over $12,000 from Hunter Hall International Limited (HHL). HHL is a publicly listed company and owner of Hunter Hall Investment Management Limited, Australia's largest dedicated ethical fund manager.
HHL is committed to the concept of ‘responsible investing' and also has a policy of donating 5% of its pre-tax profits to charities in the social, environmental and animal welfare sectors. In addition, Hunter Hall donates a portion of its fees from the Hunter Hall Global Deep Green Trust to charity. Since HHL was publicly listed in 2001, it has donated over $7.4 million to support a range of worthy causes.
HHL selected the NCT and thirty four other charities for the 2010 Hunter Hall Shareholder Nominated Charitable Donations Scheme. This scheme allows each HHL shareholder, on a basis proportional to the number of shares they own, to nominate Australia registered charities for the receipt of donations. The list of charities was initially chosen in consultation with the corporate giving organisation Givewell and is reviewed annually by a committee.
The NCT is thrilled that the issue of private land conservation struck a chord with Hunter Hall's shareholders and is grateful to the shareholders and to Hunter Hall International Limited for their generous support.
