Jeremy Buckingham, Greens State MP with the portfolio for mines, was invited to visit a recently-covenanted property in the valley by the landholder, Rosie Doyle, and the Nature Conservation Trust of NSW. Jeremy had never visited the Capertee Valley before and was captivated by the spectacular scenery.
Rosie's covenant protects habitat for a number of threatened species, including the Eastern Bentwing Bat, Glossy-black Cockatoo, Swift Parrot and critically endangered Regent Honeyeater. A newly discovered species of land snail, Sauroconcha caperteeana, which has a very restricted range in the southern part of the Capertee Valley, was recently found on her property.
