To gain a tax deduction for such a gift, the land must be valued at over $5,000. The donor must seek a valuation from the Australian Valuation Office (AVO) - part of the Australian Tax Office - which can be done before or after making the gift.
A Request for Valuation form must be lodged with the AVO along with a Certificate of Donation, which describes the gift and confirms its donation to the Nature Conservation Trust of New South Wales.
